September Technical Meeting – Maritime Safety: A Look into Commercial Ferry Operations and Safety Considerations

This month’s meeting will consist of a presentation and tour from Fire Island Ferries. Dave Anderson will be conducting the presentation and will provide a hands-on tour of the safety considerations associated with operating a commercial passenger vessel. Dave is the president of the Passenger Vessel Association and Chairperson for their Safety and Security committee. He is also a member of the Coast Guard’s Navigational Safety Advisory committee. Following Dave’s presentation, we will ride on the ferry over to dinner at Maguire’s Bayfront Restaurant in Ocean Beach.

Please meet at the Main terminal of the Fire Island Ferries’ dock at 99 Maple Ave, Bay Shore at 5:15pm to start the presentation. The ferry will bring back the group to the main ferry terminal after dinner at about 9pm.
