Feb. Technical Meeting – Occupational Health and Safety in Nanotechnology and Additive Manufacturing

Dr. Gary Roth will be presenting a lecture on nanomaterial technology, additive manufacturing, and the associated health and safety hazards. Included in this presentation will be an introduction to nanotechnology, the scientific and manufacturing applications, issues with safety controls and worker exposure, the role of NIOSH’s Nanotechnology Research Center, NIOSH lessons learned, and a Q&A session with Dr. Roth.

Dr. Gary Roth is a Health Scientist in the Emerging Technologies Branch (ETB) of NIOSH’s (National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health) Division of Science Integration (DSI). Dr. Roth’s work focuses on developing health and safety guidance for advanced manufacturing, particularly for emerging technologies such as additive manufacturing, synthetic biology, and artificial intelligence. Dr. Roth has a doctoral degree in nanoscale science and engineering, and a master’s degree in environmental health from the University at Albany.

This event will be hosted at Painters’ Restaurant in Brookhaven, from 1:00pm-4:00pm on Wednesday, February 12th. Lunch will be included. Please register for this event by February 5th.
